can't live without wikipedia: the wikipedia blackout
This morning I planned to write about Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" as soundtrack to the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona. For research I went to my daily stand-by, wikipedia. This is what I got.

Wikipedia has blacked out its English-Language site to protest two legislative bills pending in the United States.
While the bills are apparently well meaning, Wikipedia raises concerns that the methods the bills propose to stop copyright infringement also infringe freedom of expression. Hence, the black out.
Our globalized world is really amazing.
Do these US Legislators, ensconced as they are in Capitol Hill and their first-world Ivory Towers, even realize how much their acts impact lives outside American shores?
I can no longer imagine my daily life without wikipedia. This post is in support of the blackout.
